Update - both the Tobacco Road Half and Full races are closed. If you have replied to this meet up, but didn't actually register already for the race, could you please update your reply? Thanks

This will be the first year for this local race and it sounds like a great one so if you are interested in running a half or full marathon in the spring, this may be one to check out. See webpage for details. Online registration is open now. There is a limit of 1000 in the full and 3000 in the half. Much of the race is run on the American Tobacco Trail. The races are scheduled to start bright and early at 7am. The course is promised to be rolling hills the first 3 miles and flat and fast after with a downhill finish. The course will be certified and the full will be a Boston Qualifier. Both races start at the USA Baseball/Thomas Brooks Park and continue together for 3 miles after which the full marathon will go South on the ATT and the half will go North.

Details on meeting up before/after the race are still TBD. Since parking may also be limited we may want to pick a spot to meet and carpool to help reduce the congestion.

Is everyone who is running the full taking the shuttle or already hitching a ride with someone?

Mark brings up a good point and one worthy of further explanation. It will be dark at the start of the race and probably for at least the first mile & a half to 2 miles. The problem is that (unless they fixed it this week) the roads are in very bad shape in this area so there is a lot of opportunity to injure yourself. Try to stay away from the shoulders as this is where many of the problem areas are. Everyone have fun, be safe, and run hard!!!

FYI, some good details on spots for spectators to watch, posted with turn-by-turn directions. http://www.tobaccoroadmarat... Also, I realized this AM that with the time change, it's still mighty dark at the 7:00am start time (official sunrise is 7:20am), so watch your step in the first few miles.

I just wanted to add that I will be driving through Apex up 55 from US1, as well. So of anybody wants a ride from there, let me know.

Hi All, got my parking spot in the online registration this morning, so I am all set to carpool as well and can take 3 others. So anyone interested just post here and we can coordinate (half marathoners with other half marathoners, full with full, etc). I am thinking I'd also meet pre-race at Tracy's since we will do post run festivities there, details to be provided soon. Thanks Tracy! :-)

There is a lottery for parking passes starting at 8:00 AM Monday March 1. See the race website for details. If enough of us register, we should end up with several parking passes. Tracy and Jennyleah, may I ride with you?
